We are a network of people of different nationalities, who do not intend to stand by passively and watch the Icelandic government in league with foreign corporations slowly kill the natural beauty of Iceland.

We are well aware of the serious democracy deficit in Icelandic society. Some of us have lived and/or travelled in Iceland, and speak Icelandic. Many Icelandic people have already experienced first hand the wrath of the Icelandic authorities when they risked their necks by opposing the dam projects, and the National Power Company's (Landsvirkjun) systematic campaigns of misinformation. Professional persecution and slander have become almost second nature to the Icelandic authorities.

Icelandic environmentalists desperately need outside help to drive away the corporate threat to their island. SavingIceland.org are therefore pleased to be able to provide a platform for Icelanders to write about their concerns anonymously or not, as they prefer.
